Year on year the activities in West Cork for visitors and locals alike just get better and better. From local village and town festivals to water-sports and landlubber sports, artists studios, cultural events and destinations to visit, the offerings are almost too numerous to list them all. And now we have the Wild Atlantic Way route passing our door.
Here is a small sample of the ones on offer:
Sailing on Roaring Water Bay:
Sailing classes are offered through many outlets in Schull, Baltimore and Adrigole. See our links page for details.
Sharon Murphy is a Ballymaloe trained cook with a Diploma in Speciality Food Production from UCC. She has been cooking privately for the rich and famous for twenty years. Now she can teach you the easy way to become the host/hostess with the mostest. See our Cookery Classes page for more details. Also, The Firehouse Bakery school is only a ferry ride away.
Ballydehob has many festivals throughout the year including the Trad Festival in April, Ballydehob Jazz Festival on the May Bank Holiday Weekend , The Country Music Festival and The Maritime Festival in June and the annual Village Festival in August.
Fastnet Trails for walkers:
The eight designated walks (6 looped and 2 linear) start from four different Trail Heads at Lisheen, Kilcoe, Ballydehob and Schull and cover a total of 80 km. There are map boards at each trail head and an overview map located on the Hollyhill layby on the N71 approaching Kilcoe Church, as well as information plates along the trails and brochures available at local shops.
